Trio Belli-Rimmer-Fischer

This included three of the "Ariettes oubliées" which Belli played on the trombone with such a rounded, warm and mellow sound, (…)

Frederic Belli emphasised his superbly differentiated intonation and phrasing with two works: Joseph-Guy Ropartz’ concert work of 1898 and Robert Schumann’s three Romanzen op. 94, acually written for oboe. The heartfelt legato, excursions into the trombone’s bass register, dramatic passages and sensitive melodious playing made the oboe in Schumann’s Romanzen, in particular, a distant memory.
